Our First Annual Make It Matter Fair

Over 50 kids, parents and supporters joined us yesterday for our first annual Make It Mater Fair!  Students from Fiddlehead Art & Science Center, Dyer Elementary School, Baxter Academy for Technology and Science and Breakwater School had a great time playing, exploring, creating and learning.  Our Make It Matter Fair is part of our Make It Matter program which brings play, fun and learning to vulnerable children living in orphanages and marginalized communities.  The support generated from our event here in Portland Maine will go a long way to bringing our first Mobile Play and Learning Center to Mumbai India in September.

The enthusiasm and energy from start to finish was outstanding! We saw eager participation at all of the 'makers' stations, from the ooey-gooey wonder of the Ooblek table, to the non-stop building with Legos, Little Bits and Duct-tape! Kids and adults learned about the wonders of 3D printing and printed their own Lego pieces. The kids made stop animation movies with ipads and Play Dough, and were decorated with henna, the beautiful custom from Indian culture, also called mehndi.

Thank you to all who participated and donated. We will be bringing your passion and generosity to  India over the course of our next few trips. You're generosity is making a huge difference in the lives of vulnerable children and giving them opportunities to live a thriving childhood.  Thanks again!
